Spin dynamics in driven composite multiferroics

Abstract: A spin dynamics approach has been used to study the behavior of the magnetic spins and the electric pseudo-spins in a 1-D composite multiferroic chain with a linear magneto-electric coupling at the interface. The response is investigated with either external magnetic or electric fields driving the system. The spin dynamics is based on the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. A Gaussian white noise is later added into the dynamic process to include the thermal effects. The interface requires a closer inspection of… Show more

“…But converting the number of the Monte Carlo configurations to the real time has to be based on an assumption. However, the spin dynamics approach [1][2][3]5] and the Landau phenomenological theory [1,2,27] can easily solve this problem. Additionally, this system can also be driven by an external electric field, and shows a magnetic response in the magnetic material as well [1,3,5].…”

“…Each magnetic spin and electric dipole has three degrees of freedom. Thus, a simple electric pseudo-spin model [3,5,[17][18][19] describes the electric dipoles as the pseudo-spins. The ME effect occurs at the interface, where g represents the ME coupling (yellow wall).…”

“…We employ a pseudospin model to solve the dynamical behaviors of electric polarization. 25,26 The local electric moments are replaced by electric pseudospins, shown as P k;l ¼ P x k;l ; P y k;l ; P z k;l that is regarded as a continuous vector, and k; l characterizes the location. The distinction between pseudospins and classical spins is the variable size and absence of precession.…”
