Spin 2 fluctuations in 1/4 BPS AdS3/CFT2

We present a new infinite family of Type IIB backgrounds with an AdS2 factor, preserving $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 SUSY. For each member of the family we propose a precise dual Super Conformal Quantum Mechanics (SCQM). We provide holographic expressions for the number of vacua (the “central charge”), Chern-Simons terms and other non-perturbative aspects of the SCQM. We relate the “central charge” of the one-dimensional system with a combination of electric and magnetic fluxes in Type IIB. The Ramond-Ramond fluxes are used to propose an extremisation principle for the central charge. Other physical and geometrical aspects of these conformal quantum mechanics are analysed.

A cubic deformation of ABJM: the squashed, stretched, warped, and perturbed gets invaded

A superpotential deformation that is cubic in one of the chiral superfields of ABJM makes the latter theory flow into a new $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 superconformal phase. This is holographically dual to a warped AdS4×wS7 solution of M-theory equipped with a squashed and stretched metric on S7. We determine the spectrum of spin-2 operators of the cubic deformation at low energies by computing the spectrum of Kaluza-Klein (KK) gravitons over the dual AdS4 solution. We calculate, numerically, the complete graviton spectrum and, analytically, the spectrum of gravitons that belong to short multiplets. We also use group theory to assess the structure of the full KK spectrum, and conclude that $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 supermultiplets cannot be allocated KK level by KK level. This phenomenon, usually referred to as “space invaders scenario”, is also known to occur for another AdS4 solution based on a different squashed S7.

Non-integrability on AdS3 supergravity backgrounds

We investigate classical integrability on two recently discovered classes of backgrounds in massive IIA supergravity. These vacua are of the form AdS 3 × S 2 × R × CY 2 , they preserve small N = (0, 4) supersymmetry and are associated with D8−D6−D4−D2 Hanany-Witten brane setups. We choose an appropriate string embedding and use differential Galois theory on its associated Hamiltonian system, intending to produce the conditions under which Liouvillian solutions may occur. By constraining the parameters of the system according to the consistency of the associate brane setups we prove that no such conditions exist, yielding the complete non-integrability of these vacua. That is, up to the trivial cases where the background reduces to the Abelian and non-Abelian T-dual of AdS 3 × S 3 × T 4 .
