Spherulite Structure in Compatible Mixtures of Poly(ε-caprolactone) and Poly(vinyl chloride)

Abstract: KEY WORDSPolymer Blend / Spherulite / Extinction Ring /In compatible polymer blends, crystallization of a constituent polymer is an important origin of the morphology formation. The crystallization usually brings about the development of the spherulite structure in the system. The comparison of the spherulite structure in polymer blends with that in pure polymers leads to the fact that the structure changes significantly with increasing the noncrystalline component in the system. Stein et al., for example, inv… Show more

“…The spherulites with the banded structure are frequently reported for completely miscible blends consisting of crystalline/amorphous homopolymers [30][31][32][33] and microphase-separated crystalline-amorphous diblock copolymers. 34,35 In particular, PCL-b-PB forms regularly banded spherulites at any composition and T c , 34 in which amorphous PB blocks covalently linked with PCL blocks can intimately interact with PCL blocks during crystallization though the repulsive interaction works between PCL and PB blocks.…”

“…With increasing PVB concentration in same results were reported by other researchers PCL/PVB blends, the band spacing decreased, using the PCL/PVC system. 18,19 The cause of the whereas the intensity of PTC increased. Band drastic changes in PTC property of the PCL/PVB spacing of the blends also decreased with the moblend with varying PVB content will be discussed lecular weight of PVB at the constant blend comin the next section.…”
