Speed control for permanent magnet synchronous motor based on an improved extended state observer

Abstract: An improved extended state observer is designed to eliminate the influences of speed control for a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The improved extended state observer is designed based on a new nonlinear function. This function exhibits better continuity and derivability than previously available functions and can effectively reduce the highfrequency flutter phenomenon. The nonlinear dynamics, model uncertainty, and external disturbances of the permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control system are e… Show more

“…Although the observer technology has been widely used in manipulator control, most of the observers in this stage are based on linear models or linear systems [17], [18]. To estimate uncertain perturbations, many new methods are proposed for observer design [19]- [22].…”

“…These methods including feedback linearization are effective to improve the MSR’s control precision to some extent because these modeling errors were neglected. To deal with the irregularity, complexity and uncertainty of disturbance moments caused by moving-gimbal effects (Han, 1995; Xiong et al, 2015), Liu (2018) presented an improved extended state observer (ESO) for a permanent magnet synchronous motor speed control system to eliminate the disturbances. Yao et al (2014) combined ESO with nonlinear robust control for a hydraulic system to suppress its mismatched modeling uncertainties.…”

“…Generally speaking, the actual industrial plants, especially the major equipment used in basic manufacturing, such as Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) (Yang et al, 2019;Li et al, 2010;Zhao et al, 2015) and PMSM, often have strong nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, the study of nonlinear system state estimation has been a hot topic during the past several decades (Elbuluk and Li, 2003;Hicham et al, 2004;Gan and Wang, 2015;Liu, 2018).…”
