Spectroscopy of excited states of unbound nuclei Ar30 and Cl29

Abstract: appear in the even-proton number (Z) isotopes beyond the proton drip-line, in which one-proton (1p) emission is energetically prohibited but the ejection of two protons is energetically allowed due to the pairing interaction. More than 40 years after its prediction, ground-state 2p radioactivity was discovered in 2002 [2,3]. Two experiments independently observed that the ground state (g.s.) of 45 Fe decays by simultaneous emission of two protons. Later 54 Zn [4], 19 Mg [5], 48 Ni [6], and 67 Kr [7] were found… Show more

“…For masses below 1 GeV, the experimental sensitivity is much worse. The DM-nucleon cross section for sub-GeV DM is constrained by cosmological and astrophysical limits to be less than ∼ 10 −28 cm 2 [16][17][18][19][20][21], but this is more than fifteen orders of magnitude weaker than direct detection constraints on GeV-scale DM. And while colliderbased limits probe much smaller cross sections, they are more model dependent.…”

“…In particular, a 3p-unbound nuclear system of 31 K was populated in a charge-exchange reaction. This mechanism has lower cross section than knockout reactions, and the obtained data have smaller statistics than in the previously-mentioned case [8]. In spite of poor statistics with few events registered, we have obtained several nuclear-structure conclusions from the data.…”

“…In this work we continue the "excursion beyond the proton dripline" of Ref. [1] by presenting the results of additional analysis of the data obtained with a 31 Ar secondary beam [8]. In the experiment, described in detail in Refs.…”
