“…Under US irradiation, numerous organic molecules are being found to possess sonodynamic effects, especially inspired by the antecedent PDT, more and more organic sonosensitizers have been derived from organic photosensitizers. Wherein, the photosensitive porphyrins (e.g., protoporphyrin IX, hematoporphyrin, and hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether) and their derivatives (e.g, Ce6) have been commonly employed in the SDT studies, ,− other organic molecules including typical xanthenes (e.g., erythrosine B and rose bengal), , indocyanines (e.g., ICG and IR780), anticancer drugs (e.g., doxorubicin and quinolone antibiotics), hypocrellin B, and 5-aminolevulinic acid, also have exhibited relatively high SDT efficiencies. Table summarizes the representative category of organic sonosensitizers in recent years. By comparison, there are many distinct benefits to using organic sonosensitizers in SDT.…”

“…Liu et al reported that CPFX in the presence of US could produce ROS and damage BSA. [92] Other physical factors such as ultrasonic time, ambient temperature, and ionic strength also affect the damage degree of BSA. Dong et al explored the killing effect of LVFX combined with US irradiation on M. smegmatis and its sonodynamic antibacterial mechanism.…”

“…SDT has been shown to be effective against most bacteria. Ciprofloxacin (CIP), a fluoroquinolone antibacterial drug, has remarkable sonosensitivity [25]. It is possible to reuse older antibiotics in novel nano-based drug delivery systems [26].…”
