Spectroscopic detection of metals ions using a novel selective sensor

Abstract: Colorimetric chemosensors are simple, economical and practical optical approach for detecting toxic metal ions (Hg 2+ , Pb 2+ , Ni 2+ , etc.) in the environment. In this work, we present a simple but highly specific organic compound 4-chloro-2-((E)-((E)-3-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)allylidene)amino)phenol (L1) that acts as a colorimetric sensor for divalent metal ions in H 2 O. The mechanism of the interaction between L1 and various metal-ions has been established by UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopic … Show more

“…Consequently, these chemosensors have been widely investigated for their fundamental role in environmental, analytical and biological applications [13][14][15]. As a consequence, the designing and the synthesizing chemosensors that can detect certain metal ions such as the bivalent ones : Ni 2+ , Cu 2+ , Mg 2+ , Hg 2+ , Mn 2+ , Co 2+ [16][17][18][19][20][21], or the trivalent cations such as Fe 3+ , Mn 3+ and Al 3+ [22,23] with high selectivity and sensitivity were induced by most studies in the literature.…”
