Spectrophotometric method for determination of atazanavir sulfate in capsule dosage form

Abstract: Recebido em 19/11/10; aceito em 2/4/11; publicado na web em 10/6/11Two sensitive and simple spectrophotmetric methods were developed for determination of Atazanavir Sulfate in capsule dosage form. The first method was based on the oxidative coupling of ATV with 3-Methyl Benzothiazolin-2-one hydrazone (MBTH). The resulting green product had λ max of 627.3 nm and was stable for 2 h. The second method was based on the reaction between diazotized drug with N-(1-napthyl)ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (NEDA) in neu… Show more

“…In method A, the drug was allowed to react with bromophenol blue and in method B, the drug was reacted with bromothymol blue in neutral medium. As compared to the reported spectrophotometric method by Behera et al 28 , the present methods are equally significant from the point of validation parameters and the present work demonstrates the simplified extraction free, ion complexation estimation by spectrophotometric method. The methods are easier than the conventional methods of ion complex estimation by extraction in suitable buffer system.…”

“…The ion pair complexes are easily extractable in chloroform, the method is simple. The methods are compared with the previously reported methods 28,29 and found to be equally significant. Statistical analysis: Two way ANOVA was applied to test both method-sample interaction and differences in method precision.…”
