Spectrophotometric Determination of Raloxifene Hydrochloride in Pharmaceutical Formulations

Abstract: Three new simple, sensitive, rapid and economical spectrophotometric Methods (A, B and C) have been developed for the determination of Raloxifene Hydrochloride in pharmaceutical bulk and tablet dosage form. Method A is based on the formation of yellow colored chromogen with 0.1N Sodium hydroxide exhibiting maximum absorbance against the corresponding reagent blank. The method B is based on the reaction of Raloxifene with Ferric chloride and 1, 10-phenanthroline to form blood red colored chromogen. The method C… Show more

“…A few UV methods with UV detection have been previously reported for the determination of raloxifene hydrochloride in pharmaceuticals [4][5][6][7]. Other techniques reported for the assay of raloxifene in pharmaceuticals include HPLC [8][9][10][11][12][13], Rayleigh scattering method [14], LC-MS/MS [15], and capillary electrophoresis [16].…”

“…Additionally, after the menopause, RLX can lower the chance of developing breast cancer . Owing to the importance of RLX in medicine, several analytical methods have been reported for its determination, including chromatographic and other spectroscopic methods, such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) , liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (LC‐MS) , thin layer chromatography (TLC) , spectrophotometry and potentiometry .…”

“…Chemically it contain 4-tertbutyl-N-[6-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-5-(2-ethoxyphenoxy)-2-(pyrimidin-2-yl) pyrimidin-4-yl] benzene-1-sulfonamide. Limited method has been reported only for spectroscopy and LC-MS-MS (Liquid Chromatography with Tandem Mass Spectrometry) [4][5][6][7][8][9]. As per our knowledge, no other method is available which is based on RP-HPLC (Reverse Phase-high Performance Liquid Chromatography) estimation.…”
