Spectrophotometric Determination of Cu (+II) by Complexation with 2-(4-biphenyl) Imidazo [1,2-] Pyrimidine-3-Hydrazone and Studying Characteristics of prepared complex.

Abstract: 2-(4-biphenyl)imidazo[1,2-]pyrimidine-3-hydrazone (BIPH) is synthesized and used as a new complexation analytical reagent in quantitative determination of copper ions, a yellowish green complex is resulted from this reaction. At the beginning, the reaction conditions were optimized at 430 nm which is the maximum wave length () of the complex. The linear concentration range is 0.05-500ppm and the limit of detection is 0.122 ppm. To test validity of this determination method, it was applied on samples with diffe… Show more

“…The sum of squares of the variance was calculated of values ŷi from the average value ӯ (due to regression), and for 1 of degrees of freedom, get sum of squares (S1) 2 , then divide by (S2) 2 , to get value (F) 25,26 , as shown in Table 5.…”

“…Considering the toxic effects of copper, its determination is quite critical. There are a number of analytical techniques that have been reported for the determination of copper ions at very low concentration levels, including ion chromatography [7,8], UV-Vis Spectrophotometry [9,10], flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) [11,12], graphite-furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF AAS) [13], Colorimetry [14][15][16], fluorescence spectroscopy [17,18], ICP-MS [19], ICP-OES [20], ICP-AES [21], Capilarry Electrophoresis-UV [22], titrimetry [23], gravimetry [24], electrogravimetry [25] and electrochemical methods [26][27][28][29][30].…”
