Spectrophotometric Determination of carvedilol Via Oxidative Coupling Reaction

Abstract: A new, simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of catechol and resorcinol has been developed. The method is based on the reaction of catechol and resorcinol with2,4-di nitrophenyl hydrazine to yield orange-colored products respectively. catechol and resorcinol showed maximum absorbance at385 nm and 404nm with linearity was observed in the concentration range of (1-40 µg/mL) for catechol, and (1-25 µg/mL) for resorcinol with correlation coefficient (0.9982) for both compounds, Sande… Show more

“…Detecting phenolic compounds, including HQ and RS, presents challenges in analytical chemistry. Various approaches have been explored, such as high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), 4 spectrophotometry, 5 fluorescence, 6 chemiluminescence, 7 capillary electrochromatography, 8 gas chromatography/mass spectrometry, 9 and electroanalytical methods, among others. Despite their utility, these techniques are often marred by complexities in sample preparation, time-intensive procedures, and high costs.…”

“…It is used in the analysis of amino acids [17], aldehydes in air [18], total carbonyl in meat [19], and aldehydes in food samples [20]. In spectrophotometry, it is also used as a reagent in the analysis of many drugs using spectrophotometry [21][22][23][24], such as tetracycline hydrochloride [25], catechol, resorcinol [26], and nateglinide as a drug for the treatment of diabetes [27]. Interaction of haloperidol and 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazine used for the quantification in drug formulations [28], spectroscopic, cytotoxicity and molecular docking s tudies on the interaction between 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine derived Schiff bases with bovine serum albumin [29] at a wavelength near 360 nm [30].…”
