Spectrochemical Analysis of Brines

Abstract: A spectrographic procedure for the analysis of most of the cations in brine solutions utilizes an alternating current spark form of excitation on 0.5-inch briquets combined with a series of synthetic standards. A relative standard method is used to obtain the concentrations of the major constituents.

“…Other spectrochemical procedures (11) for the determination of boron in brines are designed to provide for determination of additional elements. It is difficult to select an internal standard that is suitable for such a multipurpose technique ; one element must serve as an internal standard for several elements, all of which have different excitation and emission characteristics.…”
