Abstract:The spectral structure of pressure measurements made in a ducted combustion test facility are studied. Dispersion and attenuation of acoustic plane waves may occur in the duct at low frequencies due to combustor emissions and affect the spectral structure. A model that considers the propagation of plane waves through a cloud of particles in a flowing gas and which includes heat transfer between soot particles and the gas is discussed. Experimental results are compared with theory.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
