“…The spectra of Li 3 Al 1– x Cr III x (MoO 4 ) 3 show three broad absorptions centred at around 1.75, 2.43 and 3.50 eV, leaving two valleys in the yellow and blue regions of the visible region, which leads to the brown colour of the Cr III samples. The spectra and colour are similar to those reported for Cr 3+ :Li 2 Mg 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 , Cr 3+ :K 0.6 (Mg 0.3 Sc 0.7 ) 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 and Cr 3+ :Sc 2 (MoO 4 ) 3 compounds . Three spin‐allowed crystal‐field transitions are expected in the optical spectra of Cr III :3d 3 corresponding to 4 A 2 → 4 T 2 (F), 4 A 2 → 4 T 1 (F) and 4 A 2 → 4 T 1 (P) octahedral ligand‐field transitions.…”

“…We present the colour and UV/Vis spectra, its assignment and the corresponding crystal field parameters of Li 3 Al 0.99 Cr 0.01 (MoO 4 ) 3 in Figure , based on the assignment and formulae given by Pan et al We found a 10Dq value of 14200 cm –1 for this compound. The two small shoulders on either side of the 4 A 2 → 4 T 2 (F) band arising from the spin‐forbidden transitions 4 A 2 → 2 E and 4 A 2 → 2 T 1 can also be seen (Figure ) …”

“…Recently, research is focusing on the tunable solid-state laser crystals in visible and near infrared spectrum region for flash lamping and diode laser pumping. The Cr 3+ -doped molybdate crystals have gained interest because they have broad emission bands and larger absorption and emission cross-sections [10][12].…”

“…Since tunable solid-state lasers have a wide field application in medicine, ultra short pulse generation, environment and communication, research on Cr 3+ -doped tunable solid-state laser in the visible and near infrared spectrum has gained strong interest [1][2][3][4][5]. Recently double metals molybdate and tungstate with a general formula M I M III (M VI O 4 ) 2 (where M I = Na, K, Rb, Cs, M III = Al, In, Sc and M VI = Mo, W)are gaining attentions because their interesting chemical and physical properties.…”
