“…Euglossa carinilabris Dressler, 1982b was collected in Ilhéus and Itabuna, in the state of Bahia (Dressler, 1982b;Nemésio, in prep. ), and in Santa Teresa, in the state of Espírito Santo (Faria Junior and Melo, 2007) and the present study area is exactly between both sites, suggesting it may occur in the region. Euglossa stellfeldi Moure, 1947 and Euglossa truncata Rebêlo and Moure, 1996, are known to occur in high elevations (above 800 m a.s.l.)…”

“…The colour varies from blue-violet in the southern regions of the species' distribution in this area of AF (Brazilian states of Santa Catarina and Paraná) to green in the more northerly regions (Espírito Santo and Bahia). In addition, this variation in integument colour appears to be gradual, with intermediate shades between blue-violet and green being found in populations occurring in intermediate areas of the distribution limits (Faria Jr. and Melo 2007). Recently, based on genetic analyses, Ferrari and Melo (2014) found that the differences in integument colour exhibited by E. iopoecila individuals along the AF coastline do not support the occurrence of two distinctive species, as has been suggested (Nemésio 2009).…”

“…Among these species, Euglossa iopoecila Dressler is a bee that is almost exclusive to the rainforest (RF) areas along the Brazilian AF coastline (Faria Jr. and Melo 2007;Nemésio 2009). …”

“…Contudo, ressalva-se que as várias discordâncias que existem na literatura sobre a taxonomia de grupo (e.g. FARIA JR & MELO 2007, NEMÉSIO 2009, MOURE et al 2012) torna impossível fazer uma listagem de espécies como esta sem incertezas.…”
