Patterns of reproductive ontogeny in four species of coral reef wrasses (F: Labridae) Hemigymnus melapterus, Hemigymnus fasciatus, Cheilinus fasciatus and Oxycheilinus digramma were investigated. Populations of each species were sampled from two island groups of the central Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Australia, and from coral reefs in the central Philippines. These three sampling locations span 30° of latitude. The GBR and Philippine reefs experience biologically significant differences in water temperature, geography and human activity. The studied wrasses are effectively unfished in Australia but heavily fished in the Philippines. Gonad weights, histology and demographic data were obtained across the entire size and age range of H. melapterus, C. fasciatus and O. digramma from all locations. Analysis identified three processes of male recruitment: functional gonochorism and both forms of protogynous hermaphroditism, monandry and diandry. The expression of these distinct sexual ontogenies was locality dependent. Populations of H. melapterus, H. fasciatus, C. fasciatus and O. digramma on the GBR showed consistently uniform patterns of sexual ontogeny, with all species being exclusively monandric. H. melapterus, C. fasciatus and O. digramma in the Philippines displayed complex sexual ontogenies, with all species showing histological evidence of both diandry and functional gonochorism. Reproductive investment in gonadal tissue, and population sex structure, also differed between GBR and Philippine coral reefs. Philippine populations had substantially lower gonado‐somatic indices than populations on the GBR. Nonetheless, Philippine populations matured more rapidly and displayed a protracted timing of sex change over a large size and age range. Thus, mature females appeared earlier and persisted later into ontogeny in the Philippines than on GBR reefs. Protracted timing of sex change on Philippine reefs is likely linked to the presence of primary males in the population, which is known to reduce the strength of selection for mature females to undergo sex change and become male. Hypotheses based on social structure of fish populations, environmental factors and evolutionary history were developed to account for the different patterns of sexual ontogeny in the focal wrasses.

In changes the values of life skills that occur in the Bugis ethnic fishing community, Karang Village, Telukbetung Timur District, Bandar Lampung City as local wisdom are due to incompatibility between the rules that are lived by the behavior they carry out, the weak role of social institutions in conducting supervision and socialization. The values of life that are framed in the activities of Bagang in the next generation are low in interest and the next generation to apply the values of life of the Bugis ethnic in overseas lands in their interactions among family members, the community as well as in the development and implementation of the Bagang activity. This study aims to determine the description of local wisdom in the process of educating the value of the life of the Bagang fishing community (read; Bagan) of the Overseas Bugis ethnicity in Karang Village, Teluk Betung Timur District, Bandar Lampung City. The method used in this research is descriptive analytical research with a qualitative approach that functions to describe and explain a complex reality by applying concepts and theories that have been developed by scientists.Based on the results of the research and analysis, it was found that (1) the pattern of punggawa fishermen's families in preserving local wisdom in overseas lands by inculcating life skills values was more likely to be participatory education patterns. This pattern tends to emphasize the process of the child's association with other punggawa or sawi who are more mature in developing their potential by providing maximum opportunities for achieving independence in living their lives. (2) The sawi family in the process of preserving local wisdom by instilling life skills values their education, tends to use a repressive pattern from older family members to younger family members, either directly or indirectly. Consequently, those with low education are positioned as people who accept the values of local wisdom in the lower class social strata. (3) The process of applying the life skills values of punggawa or sawi as local wisdom in the Bagang fishing community of the overseas Bugis ethnic in the Karang City Village area occurs because of the community's desire to survive with their existence as a fishing community that is unique with its traditions.

The Spermonde Islands are a group of islands inhabited by 121 islands that are effective for development. This study aims to formulate a strategy for the development of a group of islands in the Spermonde Archipelago in the Planning of Maritime-Based Travel Products. This study uses a mixed method (Mixed Method) which begins with quantitative methods and continues with qualitative methods involving 257 respondents who were taken incidentally. Data collection techniques used in the form of questionnaires and Focus Group Discussion (FGD), interviews, comparative studies and literature studies were used for qualitative data. The results of the study show that: 1) The potential for marine tourism in the Spermonde Islands from the results of the 3A analysis: Accessibility, Amenity and Activities in general, a group of islands in the Spermonde Archipelago has the potential to become superior marine tourism with current conditions it can be said to be a natural landscape heritage. . 2) On internal factors, the strength factor has a higher score than the weakness factor so that the potential for a group of islands in the archipelago has strengths or advantages that can be developed. 3) on external factors, there is a greater opportunity factor than a threat factor so that it has a very large opportunity to be marketed in tour packages as a reliable marine destination. 4) The strategy for the development of a group of islands in the Spermonde Archipelago is prepared based on the results of the SWOT analysis and produces 13 strategies.AbstrakKepulauan spermonde merupakan gugusan pulau-pulau yang dihuni 121 pulau yang efektif untuk dikembangkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan strategi pengembangan gugusan pulau-pulau di Kepulauan Spermonde dalam Perencanaan Produk Perjalanan Wisata Berbasis Maritim. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (Mixed Method) yang diawali dengan metode kuantitatif dan dilanjutkan dengan metode kualitatif dengan melibatkan 257 responden yang diambil secara insidental. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa kuesioner dan Focus Group Discussion (FGD), interview, studi banding dan studi kepustakaan digunakan untuk data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Potensi wisata bahari di kepulauan Spermonde dari hasil analisis 3A: Aksesibilitas, Amenitas dan Aktivitas pada umumnya gugusan pulau-pulau di kepulauan Spermonde sangat berpotensi untuk menjadi wisata bahari yang unggul dengan kondisi saat ini dapat dikatakan sebagai natural landscape heritage. 2) Pada faktor internal, faktor kekuatan mempunyai skor yang lebih besar dari faktor kelemahan sehingga potensi gugusan pulau-pulau di kepulauan mempunyai kekuatan atau keunggulan yang dapat dikembangkan. 3) pada faktor eksternal, terdapat faktor peluang lebih besar dari faktor ancaman sehingga mempunyai peluang yang sangat besar untuk dapat dipasarkan dalam paket wisata sebagai destinasi bahari yang handal. 4) Strategi pengembangan gugusan pulau-pulau di kepulauan Spermonde disusun berdasarkan hasil dari analisis SWOT dan menghasilkan 13 strategi.
