Abstract:The accumulation of excessive and ectopic smooth muscle cells (SMCs) is integral to the pathogenesis of diverse cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, restenosis and pulmonary hypertension. Unfortunately, underlying mechanisms are poorly understood which markedly limits therapeutic options.
