Specialized Design of Architectural Objects for the Rehabilitation of People With Visual Disabilities

Abstract: In the city of Quito, the number of people with disabilities is high and approximately 12% are visually impaired. Centers dedicated to the rehabilitation are available, one of which is the Atahualpa Day Center (CDA). Although the center has trained personnel, and a set program, the facility was not designed for this purpose, it is an adapted space that tries to cover the needs of the staff and the participants generating gaps which have had to be solved in an improvised manner.
