Oncology pharmacy has become a very important area within hospital pharmacy services. The development of new chemotherapies and the increase of incidence of cancers has increased the use of these drugs not only in specialised hospitals (cancer centres) but also in general hospitals. Often their use is extended to home care, which allows the reduction of costs and a better quality of life for the patients. With the development of oncological therapies, oncology pharmacy has also grown. Cancer is also a disease, perhaps more than any other, that requires a multidisciplinary approach and therefore provides many opportunities for pharmacy involvement.
