Special Article: The Study of Treatment for Renal Insufficiency: Data and Evaluation (STRIDE), a National Registry of Chronic Kidney Disease

Abstract: Optimization of care in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) could be the key to improved clinical and economic outcomes, both during the phase of CKD as well as in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). CKD is a major public health problem that has been insufficiently studied. “…The University of Michigan is the data coordinating center, and all statistical analyses are being carried out at the Kidney Epidemiology and Cost Center, Ann Arbor, MI. In October 2000, data from the LCKD study were linked to the Study of Treatment for Renal Insufficiency: Data and Evaluation (STRIDE) Registry (12) in order to extend this observational study to a number of nephrology practices around the country. Data collection instruments for the two studies are identical with the exception of QOL data collection methods.…”
