Spatiotemporal Pattern of Urban-Rural Integration Development and Its Driving Mechanism Analysis in Hangzhou Bay Urban Agglomeration

Abstract: The quantitative analysis of the urban-rural integration development (URID) level and its driving factors is of great significance for the new-type urbanization of urban agglomerations. This study constructed a multidimensional framework in the perspective of a population–space–economy–society–ecology framework to measure the URID level from 2000 to 2020 and further explored the driving mechanism of the URID changes by a geographical detector model in the Hangzhou Bay urban agglomeration (HBUA). The results sh… Show more

“…For example, the construction of the URI evaluation index system occurred in five dimensions: demographic, spatial, economic, social and ecological environment, as a basis for the analysis of the current situation of different URIs, and suggestions for further strengthening the degree of URIs [4]. Evaluation of URI at the national level and research and analysis of URI includes differences between regions in the temporal and spatial dimensions [28,29]. Second, the evaluation method changes from qualitative to quantitative.…”

“…The comprehensive index of rural labor is constructed using the entropy method, which incorporates rural educational human capital, rural health human capital, and innovation environment support. Following the previous approaches [65,66], rural educational labor is further divided into primary, secondary, and higher education human capital, with heterogeneous human capital calculated using the cumulative years of education method. The situation of rural health human capital is reflected through the annual rural per capita health care expenditure.…”

“…It covers an area of 8280 km 2 and has a population of 10.69 million, accounting for 1/5 of the entire basin [12,13]. The transboundary area has high economic development and is densely populated [14][15][16][17][18][19]. It has more than 190 large and medium-sized rivers and more than 2000 small rivers, resulting in a complex river network with reciprocating flow [11].…”
