“…We evaluated the algicidal ability of compound S5 at the severe stage of algal blooms (the number of algae cells was 1 × 10 8 cells/L) . As shown in Figure S3 of the Supporting Information, compound S5 inhibited algal cells in a concentration-dependent manner.…”

“…PCC6803 was selected as the research object in the extended environmental system to determine the algicidal activity of compound S5 . The strain was inoculated into BG11 medium, with OD 680 = 0.1 (the number of cells was 1 × 10 8 cells/L, equivalent to the cell density measured at the severe stage of the Taihu bloom), and certain concentrations of title compounds, DMSO, and BG11 were added to the algae solution . Diuron and copper sulfate were used as positive controls.…”

“…Currently, there are two main categories of methods for water environment prediction mechanism-driven methods and data-driven methods. Mechanism-driven models use differential or partial differential equations to describe the interactions of influencing factors, considering physical, chemical, and biological processes in aquatic ecosystems ( Wang et al, 2013 ; Wang et al, 2017 ; Wang et al, 2018a ; Woelmer et al, 2022 ; Yang et al, 2022 ). However, the mechanism-driven model does not have good generalization performance because of the different algal growth processes in different water bodies.…”

“…Soluble reactive P (SRP), can be directly utilized by phytoplankton. Although DOP and PP cannot be directly utilized by phytoplankton, they can be converted into SRP under certain conditions, which can then be absorbed and utilized by phytoplankton 13 . The relationship between eutrophication and limiting nutrients (mostly P) differs between lakes with and without submerged vegetation.…”
