Distributions and sources of volatile chlorocarbons and bromocarbons in the Yellow Sea and East China Sea

“…However, the average amounts of CHCl 3 and CCl 4 were lower than those in the coastal eastern Arabian Sea (Roy, 2010) and East China Sea shelf (He et al, 2013a), respectively. The mean concentration of CHBrCl 2 was higher than that in the Irish Sea (Bravo-Linares et al, 2007), but lower than that in southern Yellow Sea (Yang et al, 2014). “…Although VHOC have been widely investigated in different marine environments to date, VHOC survey data in Yellow Sea and East China Sea remain relatively scarce. Previously published studies have focused mainly on the concentrations, distributions, and fluxes of VHOC in the southern Yellow Sea or/and East China Sea shelf (He et al, 2013a-c;Yang et al, 2014), with only a few concentrating on northern Yellow Sea (Yang et al, 2010) and Okinawa Trough areas. More specifically, studies on the vertical distributions of VHOC in the southern Yellow Sea and Okinawa Trough areas, as well as horizontal distributions and sources in the entire Yellow Sea and East China Sea, have been largely disregarded.…”
