Abstract:Abstract. This research involves the development of lattice models of strain-hardening cement composites (SHCC), in which the individual fibers are explicitly represented. The pullout forces of fibers are derived from micromechanical bases and distributed along the fiber embedment lengths. This spatial representation of the fiber bridging forces provides realistic representations of stress transfer between the fiber and matrix, which is essential for simulating crack openings and crack spacing in SHCC. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
