The authors of this chapter reveal the relevance of the interaction between tourism and culture for the purpose of urban regeneration in the example of the town of Smederevo, the Republic of Serbia. They analyze the town’s cultural and historical values and advantages for the development of tourism, in direct communication with urban methods required to revitalize the entire area and the town itself. Through the analysis of good practices of urban regeneration of the towns of Genoa and Dresden, the authors indicate possible guidelines for achieving the most effective urban regeneration. The aim of this chapter is to examine the opportunities that tourism and culture provide for the successful urban regeneration of the town of Smederevo, in order to contribute to a better understanding of their mutual relation.

“…Процена екосистемских услуга доприноси и реализацији глобалних циљева одрживог развоја до 2030. године, а нарочито циља број 15, подциљ 15.4. према којем је потребно очувати екосистеме ради пружања користи од суштинског значаја за одрживи развој (UN, 2015). Нарочито је важно укључивање различитих интересних група у доношење одлука у управљање природним добрима (Ivanić et al, 2017;Dobričić & Josimović, 2018), као и укључивање резултата вредновања екосистемских услуга у друге секторске области (Stojkov & Dobričić, 2012;Dobričić et al, 2017;Dobričić, 2012). This paper points out the importance of assessing the cultural-historical and other ecosystem values of protected areas, on the example of applying protected areas benefit assessment tool (PA-BAT). This method has so far been applied in seven Dinaric Arc countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Serbia) in south-eastern Europe, as well as other countries of the world (Colombia, Turkey, Myanmar, USA and Ethiopia), with the aim of helping to gather information on the values and benefits of individual protected areas in relation to ecosystem services, using a participatory approach. On the example of the Djerdap National Park(in the Republic of Serbia), the results of the application of the PA-BAT method are given, that is, the results of the assessment of 22 ecosystem values with special reference to cultural and historical values as one of the ecosystem services of this protected area, as well as the results of previously conducted assessments of the ecosystem values of this area. The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding and promotion of the application of the concept of ecosystem services in the preservation of culturalhistorical and other ecosystem values by applying PA-BAT evaluation methods.

Multi-Criteria Evaluation of Spatial Aspects in the Selection of Wind Farm Locations: Integrating the GIS and PROMETHEE Methods

Apart from wind potential, there are many other spatial factors which impact the possible implementation of wind farm projects. The spatial advantages and limitations of these factors can be used as criteria for selecting the most suitable location for a potential wind farm. The specific method for evaluating wind farm locations in this paper is novel because of its choice of spatial criteria and its two-stage evaluation procedure. The first stage involves the elimination of unfavorable areas for locating a wind farm, based on elimination criteria, using GIS. The second stage is the selection of the most suitable wind farm location using the PROMETHEE method. This is based on the multi-criteria evaluation of locations according to different weight categories and scenarios. The results are then multiplied based on which decision-making subjects can make appropriate decisions. The results indicate that the method presented has a universal character in terms of its application. However, its specifics in terms of quantitative statements for the individual spatial criteria used in the evaluation depend on the specifics of national and international regulations, the area in question and the particular project. By integrating the spatial criteria with the relevant legislation, this method has potential for global application. It aims towards systematicity, efficiency, simplicity and reliability in decision-making. In this way, potential conflicts and risks for investors and other users of the space are prevented in the earliest development phase of a wind farm project.
