Spatial effects of climate change on tourism development in china: An analysis of tourism value chains

Abstract: Tourism value chains is scattered across the economic fields. This paper seeks to carry out an empirical analysis of the relationship between climate change and tourism development in China. We used relevant data from 31 provinces in China, and analyzed the spatial effects of climate change on tourism development using a spatial Durbin model. In the development of tourism in Chinese provinces, the research results show that the high-high agglomeration areas of inbound overnight tourists are widely distributed … Show more

“…To address the impacts of weather variability on tourism receipts in Ethiopia, several key policy recommendations can be considered. Acknowledging and addressing the links between environmental change and tourism is crucial, urging the development of better adaptation plans [73]. Also, understanding the seasonality of weather patterns is vital for planning and decision-making, necessitating adjustments to festival dates, creating real-time information platforms, and implementing flexible vacation arrangements [75].…”

This includes supporting adaptation efforts [67,73,74], promoting low-carbon tourism [75], tax waivers for environmentally friendly practices, active encouragement for climate-adaptive establishments, and the implementation of green taxes to promote sustainability [76,77].…”

“…The spatial agglomeration and spillover of the urban tourism industry is a necessary stage in the transformation process of the tourism economy to high-quality development. This spatial spillover also exists in the development of inbound tourism (Deng et al, 2017; Xiong et al, 2022). The clustering of the inbound tourism industry is more likely to attract education and research institutions to locate near the clusters, which helps strengthen the solidarity between regions, thus promoting the development of the inbound tourism industry in neighboring regions (Llorca-Rodríguez et al, 2021).…”
