Spatial Econometric Cross-Border Traffic Analysis for Passenger Cars – Hungarian Experience

Abstract: The role of cross-border commuting needs is remarkable, given that large cross-border cities tend to have high traffic attractiveness. Thus, agglomeration effects are strongly prevalent in populous settlements close to the border. This is due to the fact that both Hungary and the neighboring countries are burdened by spatial inequalities; therefore, the traffic at the individual border crossing points is unbalanced. Our aim is to show the extent to which the introduction of certain public transport modes contr… Show more

“…Y it represents the per capita output of the ith region in period t, σ t . If there are σ t+k Cσ t (C is a constant, and C < 1) in epoch t + k, and then this region is said to have a k-order σ convergence [19]. β convergence is a time series assumption that all regions will eventually reach the same per capita income or output over time [20].…”

“…This may refer to a variety of aspects of how the EU's single market is expected to operate, including -among others -interoperability between modes, inter-and multimodality, integrated digital services, and paperless procedures. Road transport plays an essential role in freight transport throughout Europe [7]. Therefore, conditions that may hinder seamless operation in this sector require thorough consideration for evidence-based action.…”
