“…(3) Inhomogeneous distribution of n -alkanes. The n -alkanes are never homogeneously distributed in a lake sediment, as evidenced by various samples within a lake (Sarkar et al 2014; Kou et al 2021).…”

“…Siling Co (31°34′00″N -31°51′00″N, 88°33′00″E -89°21′00″E) is the largest lake in the Tibet Autonomous Region. The lake is 4,530 m above sea level and the maximum depth is about 50 m. The climate in the lake area is mostly in the plateau sub-frigid zone, with a semi-arid climate as the main [47]. The multi-year average temperature is 0.2 ℃, the annual precipitation is 290-321 mm [48], and the lake water pH is 9.4-9.7 (Chen 2001).…”

“…We adopt the isobaths data of the Siling Co, acquired using the Ekman-Birge grab sampler in 2017 (Kou et al, 2021), as the lake bottom elevations (bathymetry), and interpolate them onto a 500 m-by-500 m grid (Figure S2 in Supporting Information S1). We subtract the bathymetry from the annual water level elevation to obtain the water depths of each grid on each year from 1990 to 2022 (Figure S3 in Supporting Information S1).…”
