Spatial Analysis of Metal–PLGA Hybrid Microstructures Using 3D SERS Imaging

Abstract: The incorporation of gold nanoparticles in biodegradable polymeric nanostructures with controlled shape and size is of interest toward different applications in nanomedicine. Properties of the polymer such as drug loading and antibody functionalization can be combined with the plasmonic properties of gold nanoparticles, to yield advanced hybrid materials. This study presents a new way to synthesize multicompartmental microgels, fibers, or cylinders, with embedded anisotropic gold nanoparticles. Gold nanopartic… Show more

“…Special attention can be given to intelligent polymers in which special resources are added to the colloidal compounds, making them sensitive to the stimuli employed, changing their properties, such as temperature, ionic strength, solvent polarity, electric/magnetic field, light or biomolecules. 133,134 Using smart polymers responding to stimuli are delivery vehicles that are being considered as promising for controlled encapsulation and release of drugs. 135,136 In the study, gadolinium oxide and europium-encapsulated temperature/pH-responsive polymeric particles (PLTPPs) were synthesized by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization presented excellent biocompatibility with C6 cellulases and anticancer drug loading capacity (doxorubicin, DOX).…”

“…Such accurate label‐free and fingerprint detection technique has been considered as a promising and noninvasive POC diagnostic tool in various applications, such as environmental monitoring, drug detection, explosives analyses, as well as healthcare inspection . Due to small scattering cross sections of the detected molecules, a plenty of plasmonic nanostructures primarily based on the electromagnetic field enhancement are widely investigated, which usually rely on chemical syntheses or complex lithographic approaches to achieve high‐density of hotspots . Among them, laser processing is an intriguing approach to fabricate micro/nanostructures over a large area at a high speed .…”

“…[36][37][38][39] It can be attributed to the separation of dye molecules inside the polymer suppressing their intramolecular torsional motion. 40,41 Likewise, to evaluate the stability of PSCR brous membranes, when the excitation wavelength is changed from 325 nm to 385 nm, the PSCR membrane always emits white light. When the excitation wavelength is greatly changed, there is only a small change in white light emission ( Fig.…”
