Este trabajo analiza los cambios recientes en la temperatura del mar Balear y las tierras costeras circundantes. Para el análisis de la temperatura terrestre se han utilizado registros mensuales de varios observatorios litorales del mar (SST, por sus siglas en inglés) se utilizaron imágenes térmicas mensuales de satélite procedentes del Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) disponibles para el periodo 1985-2009. últimos 25 años, con tasas de 0.039 ºC/año en tierra para el periodo 1960-2010 y 0.026 ºC/año para el mar durante el periodo 1985-2009. El análisis estacional de las tendencias muestra que en los últimos 25 años las mayores tasas de calentamiento se producen durante la transición primavera-verano, con tasas máximas en el mes de junio (0.12 ºC/año en tierra y 0.08 ºC/año en el mar). Los resultados evidencian una tendencia hacia el adelantamiento y prolongación de la estación estival en las últimas décadas, tanto en tierra como en mar. . The seasonal analysis showed that, in the last 25 years, higher trends were registered during the transition from spring to summer, with the highest warming rates in June (0.12 ºC/year on land and 0.08 ºC/year in SSTs). Results show a recent tendency towards earlier and longer summers both on land and sea.

A 21 year (1992 -2012) daily ozone emission data of a highly urbanised district in Malaysia was analysed with the aim of estimating the trend of ozone emission and relating this trend to the socio -economic and climatic characteristics of the area. Daily ozone emission dataset used in this study were obtained from the World Ozone and Ultraviolet Data Centre (WOUDC). The data were aggregated to obtain the mean monthly emission data. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were conducted to describe the datasets. Trend of the ozone emission was estimated with the use of MANN -KENDALL test. The magnitude of the trend was derived by the use of ordinary least-square fitting and the significance of trend was also tested with the use of MANN-KENDALL tool. The results of the statistical analysis indicated that the highest ozone emission occurred during the south western monsoon (May to August) period and these mean monthly ozone emission differed significantly over the study period. The trend analysis indicated a yearly decrease of between 0.069 ppt to 9.45 ppt for all the months except for the month of June when the predicted ozone concentration increased between 0.403 ppt and 0.414 ppt over 2020 to 2100. Furthermore, the results indicated that the ozone emission datasets yielded good estimates (predictive power of over 90%) with polynomial regression model. It could be concluded that the results of this study provided useful evidence for the importance of the climatic factors such as ambient air temperature, relative humidity on ozone formation. More so, this study could be useful in developing baseline information for assessing the health impact of ozone emission and for urban airshed modelling.

We have developed a new monthly temperature database for mainland Spain by using the complete holding of maximum and minimum monthly mean values stored at the Spanish National Meteorological Agency (AEMet). After an exhaustive quality control exercise, the data set includes 1358 complete series, and a high-resolution grid (0.1 ∘ × 0.1 ∘ ) was calculated to analyse monthly trends. There has been an uneven increase in the mean values of maximum and minimum temperatures in the Spanish mainland from 1951 to 2010. The maximum monthly mean temperature values have risen mostly in late winter/early spring and the summer, while the minimum monthly mean temperature values have increased in summer, spring and autumn in southern areas. The spatial pattern of the diurnal temperature range shows a clear north-south gradient in summer, with positive trends in the north and negative trends in the south; furthermore, a negative pattern has been detected in the south in spring and autumn. These areas, particularly the Mediterranean coastland, have been subject to dramatic urbanization and land use changes during the past 30 years that may have affected nocturnal temperatures, in particular. Thus, warming processes in the Iberian Peninsula appear to be influenced both by global factors and more local ones, and their effects should be differentiated spatially.
