“…But a number of patients experience secondary deterioration of the atrioventricular (AV) conduction and need ventricular antibradycardia pacing. Most symptomatic SND patients in the USA 1 and in most European countries 2–4 receive DDD(R) pacemakers in order to treat compromised automaticity and to provide additional protection against bradycardia, if unforeseen AV block or slowly conducted atrial fibrillation (AF) occurs.
