“…The IMS noble gas stations RN20 and RN45 are equipped with the Spalax system 30 , 31 and measure radioxenon activity concentrations every 24 h, whereas RN38 is equipped with the Sauna system 32 and measures radioxenon activity concentrations every 12 h. Finally, RN58 is equipped with the Arix system and measures radioxenon activity concentrations every 12 h 33 .…”

“…The technology for measurements of Xe‐135, Xe‐133m, Xe‐133, and Xe‐131m, complying with the CTBT requirements, has been tested and evaluated for operational purposes, under the International Noble Gas Experiment (Auer et al, ). Three types of automatic measurement systems—developed independently by France, Russia, and Sweden—are currently in use in the IMS network: (i) the SPALAX (Système de Prélèvement Atmosphérique en Ligne avec l'Analyse des radioXénons) (Fontaine et al, ; Topin et al, ), (ii) the SAUNA (Swedish Automatic Unit for Noble Gas Acquisition) (Ringbom et al, ), and (iii) the ARIX (Analyzer of Radioactive Isotopes of Xenon) (Dubasov et al, ). The underlying physical principles are similar for the three systems, while differing in their technical approaches.…”

“…The 133 Xe detections by the IMS stations used in the inverse modelling are listed in Supplementary Table S1 . At station RN45, radioxenon activity concentration is measured during a 24-h period using the Spalax system 20 , 21 . Stations RN38 and RN77 are equipped with the Sauna system 22 and measure radioxenon activity concentration twice a day during a 12~h period.…”
