Artykuł prezentuje genezę, formy i implikacje zaangażowania osób narodowości niemieckiej w wojnę domową Hiszpanii. Wspomniane zagadnienie ukazane zostało przez pryzmat aktywności dwóch grup Niemców – sympatyków generała Franco (Legion Condor, korespondenci z Rzeszy) oraz zwolenników rządu Frontu Ludowego (antynazistowscy emigranci z Niemiec). Działalność każdej z tych grup została przeanalizowana pod kątem następujących kwestii badawczych: motywy udziału w hiszpańskiej wojnie domowej, formy i specyfika zaangażowania (ochotnicy), charakter relacji ze zwykłymi mieszkańcami Hiszpanii oraz reprezentantami władzy (w przypadku nazistów – z nacjonalistami, w przypadku antynazistów – z republikanami).
