Source Control Technology of Environmental Pollution for Offshore Drilling

Abstract: Oceans have been proved to be an important resource due to their abundant reserves in oil and gas. However, because of the extent of oil exploration and development in recent years, the marine ecological environment has been increasingly affected. At present, the control and treatment of environmental pollution from offshore drilling both at home and abroad have focused on end-treatment after problems have already emerged. Nevertheless, preventative measures and appropriate control links has not been addressed… Show more

“…These numbers increased to 27, 1669 and 217, respectively, by 2012. Because of the extent of oil exploitation and development in recent years, the marine environment has been increasingly affected (Xie et al, 2014;Wang et al, 2016;Vad et al, 2018). The main pollutants produced by offshore oil and gas exploitation are wastewater, sewage, drilling mud and drilling cuttings (Aagaard-Sorensen et al, 2018).…”

“…Compared to 2009-2014, the annual pollution arising from mud drilling and cutting for 2015-2017 emissions decreased considerably (Fig. 3B) because of innovation in offshore drilling techniques (Xie et al, 2014).…”

“…First, there is the problem of opportunistic behavior caused by information asymmetry [27,28]. According to the reform of government functions, environmental pollution governance enterprises can enter the third-party governance market without approval [29]. Therefore, in the absence of a sound access mechanism and a perfect regulatory mechanism, the thirdparty pollution governance market services vary considerably in quality [30,31].…”

“…First, the analysis of marine environmental regulation strategies based on evolutionary game theory, which mainly focuses on four levels-the environmental regulation strategy between governments (Wei, 2020), the environmental behavior of governments and enterprises (Du et al, 2021), the environmental behavior of governments and individual stakeholders (Ding et al, 2021), and the game of multiple interests of various subjects related to the process of environmental regulation (Wan et al, 2021;Xu et al, 2021). Second, from the perspective of marine pollution sources, scholars have proposed that the main factors of marine pollution include land-based pollution , ship oil spill pollution (Cross, 1992), oil exploration (Xie et al, 2014), and marine accidents (Bailly du Bois et al, 2012). These sources of pollution compromise seawater quality, destroy marine biodiversity, and disrupt the normal operation of the marine ecosystem.…”
