Source Analysis and Countermeasure Research of Sand Production after Hydraulic Fracturing in Tight Sandstone Gas Reservoir

Abstract: Sand production is the most common problem after hydraulic fracturing treatment. This problem is particular prominent in sandstone reservoirs. For Jinqiu gas reservoir of Sichuan Basin in China, the average sand production after fracturing is 103 tons, and the sand production rate is 2.36% through statistics of 12 wells. The sand production will seriously damage the downhole equipment as well as ground facilities. In this study, based on the analysis of sand production source, it is clear that the sand product… Show more

“…The Effect of Proppant Pumping Schedule on the Law of Proppant Settlement. In order to meet the needs of the reservoir stimulation, slope sand and slug slope sand pumps are selected to inject the proppant schedule [13,14]. Thus, we researched the effect of the proppant pumping schedule on the law of proppant settlement with the condition of the same total proppant dose and pumping rate, and the pumping rate in the experiment was 60 L/min.…”

“…The fracture network system can "break up" the effective reservoir where seepage can take place, maximize the contact area between the fractures and the reservoir, and increase the volume of the reservoir stimulation as much as possible. It enables the shortest percolation distance of oil and gas from the matrix in any direction to the fracture; dramatically improves the overall permeability of the reservoir; realizes a comprehensive transformation of the reservoir in the three-dimensional direction of length, width, and height; increases the percolation area and inflow capacity; and improves the initial production and final recovery [8][9][10][11][12][13].…”

“…Jirout and Jiroutová 19 conducted systematic experiments and calculated the correlation between the hindered settling velocity of a cloud of non-isometric particles and a high-viscosity and pseudoplastic liquid. Peng et al 20 conducted experimental studies on proppant flowback control using fibers of varying lengths. A series of laboratory evaluations were designed to quantify the effectiveness of fibers on proppant flowback control.…”
