Abstract:En este artículo se realiza una revisión del concepto de sostenibilidad urbana, desde que fue acuñado hasta el presente. En la introducción se mencionan las cuatro variables que hacen insustentables a las ciudades: extracción y procesamiento de materiales naturales; energía, materiales y agua requerida por el metabolismo urbano; externalidades, y ocupación espacial.
