Abstract

T h e n-stage h a r v e s t i n g s t r a t e g y of Elizarov a n d Svirezhev is e x a m i n e d . As a result, some i m p o r t a n t new features appear. A discussion is p r e s e n t e d o n w h e t h e r or n o t one s h o u l d h a r v e s t a species a t one t i m e stage or wait u n t i l a later time. T h e p a p e r is concerned w i t h c o n t r i b u t i o n s w h i c h are p r i m a r i l y m a t h e m a t i c a l f o r m u l a t i o n s a n d results for continuous,as well as discrete time, logistic g r o w t h of a single species b e i n g h a r v e s t e d . Age class s t r u c t u r e is ignored.
