Some peculiarities of interactions of weakly bound lithium nuclei at near-barrier energies

Abstract: This paper presents new experimental data on the total cross sections of 9 Li+ 28 Si reactions at low energies as well as the analysis of previously obtained data for 6,7 Li. Based on a large collection of data (authors' and literature data) we carried out a comparative analysis of the two main experimental interaction cross sections (angular distributions of the differential cross sections and total reaction cross sections) for weakly bound lithium ( 6-9 Li, 11 Li) nuclei in the framework of Kox parameteriz… Show more

“…The lattice spacing in the TDSE calculation is 0.3 fm, which is substantially smaller than 0.8 fm in a typical time-dependent Hartree-Fock calculation [19]. The colliding nuclei are en-closed in a box of typical dimensions 105 × 105 × 130 fm 3 . The initial conditions Ψ ( r, t = 0) for numerical solving of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation is the wave function of stationary state ψ nlm in the moving projectile nucleus…”

“…The latest experimental data on elastic scattering of light weakly bound lithium nuclei 8,9,11 Li indicates enhancement of the total cross section for reactions with these nuclei as compared to reactions with 6,7 Li [1][2][3][4][5][6]. This effect is especially strongly manifested for light nuclei with a neutron halo [7].…”

“…When registering and measuring the characteristics of reaction products on beams of radioactive nuclei, special requirements are imposed on the characteristics of this equipment [7][8][9][10][11], because of the complexity of low-intensity experiments (10 2 -10 4 s −1 ), (the large variety of reaction channels, the presence of neutron and gamma background, etc.). Under these conditions, one of the most effectively used methods for determining the energy of a particle is the timeof-flight method [12,13], which consists in measuring the energy of a particle E K by the time-of-flight t of the path length l :…”

“…Study of the mechanisms of interaction of weakly bound light exotic nuclei arouse great interest. It is due to effects of a sharp increase of the total cross section in reactions with these nuclei, [2][3][4][5]. The 11 Li nucleus has a halo structure consisting of two external weakly bound neutrons.…”
