Some Factors Affecting Baseflow

Abstract: For a shallow aquifer and a fully penetrating stream. the ideal baseflow curve does not plot as a straight line on semilog paper, and its recession rate continuously decreases with time. For a deep aquifer and a shallow-entrenched stream, the ideal baseflow generally decays exponentially, and its recession rate decreases with increasing stream entrenchment. In the case of loss from evapotranspiration, the baseflow curves steepen progressively with time, and the stream may become infiuent. In the case of gain f… Show more

“…Singh (1968) estimated baseflow by the Boussinesq assumption, in which baseflow was influenced by the height of the water table and geohydrological characteristics. The two types of boundary condition and the linearized Boussinesq equation used in Singh (1968) were also used in this study. The two boundary conditions are described in more detail later in this paper.…”

“…Most aquifers present one single recession coefficient, but some may have several. Boussinesq (1904), Barnes (1939), Drogue (1967Drogue ( , 1972, Schöeller (1967), Singh (1968), Hall (1968), Mangin (1970) and Tallaksen (1995), explain the hydrological significance of recession curves.…”

“…Barnes(1939)는 반대수지상에서 지하 수 감수곡선이 직선적으로 변화한다고 하였으며, 이후 Singh(1968)를 비롯한 다수의 학자들이 지수함수식을 이 용하여 감수곡선 계수를 산정한 이래, 감수계수에 관한 연 구가 많이 이루어졌다 (Martin, 1973;Klassen and Pilgrim, 1975;Tallaken, 1995). 대표적인 연구사례로서, Vogel and Kroll(1992) …”
