Abstract:The problem of hydrogen embrittlement, which adversely affects the quality and mechanical properties of electroformed iron-nickel alloy foil, is considered. Heat-treatment, such as annealing, can reduce these effects of hydrogen embrittlement. The electroformed metal can also be converted to alloy steel by carburizing; and by other heat-treatments, such as hardening and tempering, a range of mechanical properties for the foil can be achieved.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
