Some Aspects on the Effect of Nitrogen Containing Additives in Soda Pulping of Egyptian Bagasse Pith

Abstract: The delignification process during preparation of unbleached soda pulps from bagasse pith in presence of some nitrogen containing additives is enhanced in the following Order: hydroxylamine hydrochloride > p-nitrobenzoic acid > m-nitrobenzoic acid. Study of ultraviolet and infrared abso tion spectra of soda bagasse pith lignin, also potentiometric titration of the black liquors confirm this observation. Moreover, the effect of the additives on the rate of delignification is in agreement with this result.
