Solvothermal synthesis of Bi2S3 nanoparticles for active photocatalytic and energy storage device applications

Abstract: High edge energy storage with large life-span stable materials have become the most significant and major requirement in near future. Bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) Nanoparticles (NPs) was effectively synthesized by utilizing Bismuth diethyldithiocarbamate (Bi[DTC]) complex as single-source antecedent. The synthesized Bi2S3 NPs were affirmed by structural, morphological and thermal analysis with various analytical studies. The electrochemical performance of Bi2S3 NPs reveals that, exhibit redox behavior from cyclic v… Show more

“…All the diffraction peaks in this spectrum could be indexed to the orthorhombic crystalline bismuth sulfide phase, which is in agreement with (JCPDS Card no. 89‐8964) [48] . The confirmation of the carbon peak is seen at 2θ value of 26.5°, which corresponds to the plane of (002) crystal planes in the cubic structure of carbon (JCPDS card no.…”

“…The process of iodine capture by Bi 2 S 3 @SiO 2 was further investigated by Raman spectroscopy, as shown in Figure . Before iodine adsorption, there were two obvious stretching vibration peaks at about 240 and 965 cm –1 , which were attributed to the characteristic peaks of Bi 2 S 3 . When reacted with iodine vapor, the intensity of these two well-defined peaks was gradually decreased and disappeared until saturated.…”

This is consistent with the XRD result.…”

“…Composition of Metallic and semiconducting materials are employed in numerous technological applications and are currently playing an important role in the field physics, chemistry, bioengineering and medical sciences [1]. Bismuth sulfide (Bi2S3) is a V-VI group binary chalcogenide semiconductor with an optical band gap of 1.3 eV [2].Moreover, Bi2S3 has gained significant amount of interest in the field of optoelectronic devices [3], thermoelectric devices [4], photo detector [5] , energy storage devices [6], and X-ray tomography due to its better conductivity, thermo electric properties and narrow band gap. When 800 nm laser light is shined on Bi2S3 nanomaterial surface the temperature of these material increases.…”
