Solvothermal syntheses, structures and luminescent property of two coordination compounds constructed from 2,2′-bipyridine and dicarboxylate ligand

Abstract: Two d 10 metal coordination polymers, [Zn(CMTB)(bipy)] · (H2O)2 (1) and [Cd(CMTB)(bipy)] · (H2O)1.25 (2) (CMTB = 4-[(carboxymethyl) thio]-benzoic acid, bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) were synthesized under mild mixed solvothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and IR spectroscopy. Compound 1 crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group P21/n with cell parameters: a = 8.1083(16) Å, b = 17.194(3) Å, c = 28.646(6) Å, β = 97.96(3)˚ and Z = 8.
