Solving Combined Economic and Emission Dispatch Using Harvest Season Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm Considering Food Source Placements and Modified Rates

Abstract: This paper presents performances of a harvest season artificial bee colony (HSABC) algorithm for obtaining the best solution of a combined economic and emission dispatch (CEED). Two strategies of placement are applied to IEEE-30 bus system for solving the CEED problem under some constraints. Modified rates and various distances are also used to demonstrate HSABC's performances. Simulation results show that two placement strategies have different implications for the CEED, application of various modified rates … Show more

“…In detail, flowers are expressed using multiple food sources related to the first food source and the other food sources. Each food source is located randomly at a certain position using a harvest operator [13], [17]. In principle, the sequencing computation of HSABC algorithm is distributed into several processes to select the optimal solution as following orders as adopted in these studies [5], [14]:  Generating population: create initial population sets, evaluate initial population sets, and define the population.…”

“…Nowadays, a power system becomes a complex network constructed using physical components on the based technical requirements for generation, distribution and transmission systems [1][2]. This integrated structure is used to provide a high quality and reliable system to meet a power demand [1][2][3][4][5]. Operationally, the demand leads to energy usages at customers.…”

“…This strategy treats the optimal operating cost considered fuel and pollutant fees for the existed power plant connected to the grid [3], [12]. The fuel cost is approached using an economic load dispatch (ELD) whereas a pollutant discharge (PD) covers contaminant producers [2], [4][5], [8], [11][12], [14], [16]. In addition, the REI leads to the committed power producers to meet the individual power portion.…”
