Solvent-Resistant Polyurethanes Prepared From β-Cyanoethyl Glycidyl Ether

Abstract: Solvent-resistant polyurethanes have been prepared from polyols containing pendant nitrile functions. The polyols were prepared by cationic co- & terpolymerization of β-cyanoethyl glycidyl ether (CEGE) with tetrahydrofuran, ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or epichlorohydrin. CEGE-based polyurethanes combine the hydrolytic, stability of the polyether-based materials with the solvent resistance of polyester-based materials.
