Solvent-free and One-pot Synthesis of Trisubstituted Methanes Containing Coumarin Catalysed by Yttrium(III) Nitrate

Abstract

A one-pot method has been developed for the synthesis of novel trisubstituted methanes containing coumarin by the reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin with aryl glyoxal and benzamide under solvent-free conditions. The reactions were efficiently catalysed by yttrium(III) nitrate to afford corresponding products in moderate to good yields. The synthetic procedure is simple, inexpensive and environmentally friendly.
