Solvent dependent formation of Cu(II) complexes based on isonicotinamide ligand

Abstract: Five solvent-dependent Cu(II) compounds have been synthesized with [Cu(μ-OAc)(μ-Pip)(MeOH)]2 (OAc = acetate; Pip = 1,3-benzodioxolecarboxylate) and isonicotinamide (Isn) as an auxiliary ligand in different solvents. In all compounds the Pip units are displaced resulting in dimeric [Cu(μ-OAc)(OAc)(Isn)2(solvent)]2 (solvent = MeOH (2a), dmf and H2O (3) or H2O and HPip (4a)), paddle-wheel [Cu(μ-OAc)2(Isn)]2•2dmso (5) or monomeric compound [Cu(OAc)2(HOAc)(Isn)2]•HOAc (6). All of them have been characterized by ana… Show more

“…The antileishmanial activity test was performed with a slight modification of the previously reported method [47] . Leishmania tropica promastigotes (1 × 10 5 parasites/well) and test compounds were dispensed in a flat-bottom 96-well microtiter plate such that the final concentration of each test compound was 1000, 500 and 250 μg/mL in DMSO.…”

“…Most of these complexes were formed using the Cu(MeCO 2 ) 2 ·H 2 O salt and provided monomeric and dimeric arrays. Among a total of 16 complexes, eight are paddle-wheel, two are dimeric arrays, , and six have a monomeric structure. , The coordination modes present in these cases were monodentate, bidentate chelate, and syn - syn bidentate bridged. In one of them, the HPip unit was occluded instead of coordinated .…”

“…In one of them, the HPip unit was occluded instead of coordinated. 21 The use of Pip and pyridine derivatives with d10 metal ions (Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II)) generated four dimeric compounds, two of them paddle-wheels and two dimeric. In this case, the Pip units displayed a bidentate chelate and a bidentate bridged coordination mode.…”

“…Coordination polymers (CPs) and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been extensively explored in different chemistry branches on account of their unique and diverse structures, remarkable functional properties, and important application in a wide variety of fields, which, among others, includes gas adsorption and storage [1][2][3][4], catalysis [5][6][7][8][9], molecular magnetism [10][11][12], and photochemistry [13][14][15][16]. In the synthesis of functional CPs and derived materials, various structural and experimental parameters, such as a metal-ion coordination environment and ligand type [17][18][19], pH value [20,21], solvent composition [22,23], and temperature [24][25][26], can play structure-guiding roles. In particular, the variation in the types of organic building blocks has been one of the most prolific routes in building up a large library of functional CPs/MOFs [13][14][15][25][26][27][28][29].…”
