“…Such solvatochromism of ( R p )/( S p )- 3c should be ascribed to the ICT enhancement occurring from the 4-dimethylaminophenyl group to the N̂O-chelated six-membered ring and the adjacent benzene ring of the PCP group. As shown in Figure S6, the slope of the fitting line in the Lippert–Mataga plot of ( R p )/( S p )- 3c is 11543.2. The positive slope indicates that the larger dipole moment in the excited state can interact with the dipole moments of polar solvent molecules, leading to the solvatochromism of ( R p )/( S p )- 3c.…”

“…For example, direct inhalation of trace amounts of acids/amine vapors results in asphyxiation along with serious chemical burns to mucous membranes of the nose, throat, and respiratory tract. To date, most of the reported functional AIEgens disclose the sensory response for either amines or acid vapors. However, developing AIEgens with a dual-stimuli-responsive nature for detecting both acids and amine vapors with high selectivity, sensitivity, and rapid response time still remains a tedious job . It would be highly desirable to develop novel multi-stimuli-responsive smart D−π–A-based AIEgen which can simultaneously sense trace amount of volatile acids and amine vapors in quantitative fashion toward high-tech applications including medical diagnosis, environmental pollution monitoring, and food safety. , …”

“…The l abs at 278 nm and 337 nm are assigned to the absorption of the benzyl dihydropyridine group. 18 Correspondingly, (R)-/(S)-2 emit at 371 nm and 375 nm in THF with moderate uorescence quantum yields (F f ¼ 15% for (R)-2 and 14% for (S)-2, respectively). These observations can be attributed to the intermolecular interactions between "binol" and "binol" or "benzyl dihydropyridine" and "benzyl dihydropyridine", which restrict the free rotation of BINOL and the 1,4-dihydropyridine group and block the nonradiative decay pathways.…”

“…In the course of our work, we became interested in the development of AIE-active compounds. [18][19][20] Herein, we attached the axially chiral BINOL to benzyl dihydropyridine through a butylene linker to afford (R)-/ (S)-2 (Scheme 1), which showed outstanding aggregationinduced emission (AIE) in exciplex uorescence. Moreover, the effects of concentration, aggregation, and viscosity on the photophysical properties of (R)-/(S)-2 have been investigated.…”
