Solvates of acotiamide hydrochloride: characterization and phase transformation

Abstract: Five novel crystals of acotiamide hydrochloride (AH) with solvates dimethyl formide (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), ethyl acetate (EA) and water (W) [1AH‐1W‐1DMF, 1AH‐1DMSO‐I, 1AH‐1DMSO‐II, 1AH‐1W‐1DMSO and 2AH‐2DMSO‐1EA] were characterized using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, powder X‐ray diffraction, thermal analysis and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The five crystals can be divided into four distinct structural types based on analysis of their similarities; 1AH‐1W‐1DMF and 1AH‐1W‐1DMSO are i… Show more

“…The second type are heterosolvates incorporating two different organic solvents in a stoichiometric ratio and in a well-defined crystal structure sites, e.g. 13,[27][28][29] . The incorporation of solvent molecules in such solvates have been investigated for a potential application in use as solvent sensors 30 .…”

“…Examples of compounds forming such solvates are olanzapine, bosutinib, stanozolol, 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, , cholic acid, , deoxycholic acid, , etc. There are also many heterosolvates containing two different organic solvents in well-defined crystal structure sites. Additionally, in part of the heterosolvates, solvent molecules are located in channels or other large cavities without specific requirements for the solvate shape and size or even interactions. , …”
