“…This could be due to a number of factors, including differences in Vitis vinifera cultivars versus Vitis interspecific hybrid cultivars tested as well as differences in climate and site. Vitis vinifera cultivars are generally less winter hardy and more susceptible to diseases (Khanizadeh et al 2008, Reisch et al 1993. For instance, Vitis riparia has transcriptional components that are involved in its resistance to Downy mildew caused by Plasmopara viticola.…”
